From our many parks,

the Jeffersonville Parks and Recreation offers something for everyone,
in every season.
Our goal is to offer
you the best in healthy, family entertainment. In the past year we have
added new amenities like a new football field, revitalized youth and adult
programs, and the rebirth of the Ken Ellis Center.

Black History Month Program
The NAACP & Parks Dept. have collaborated to deliver a month long education program about Black History focusing on the history in Jeffersonville, Clark County and Southern Indiana. Ages 4-11, at Ken Ellis Senior Center, Wednesdays 2/8/12-2/29/12 from 6:30-8pm, FREE, pre-registration required.
Blizzard Blowout 2012
Friday, February 24th
7pm-7am
Cost: $40
Come out of the cold for this annual all-night event for kids third through eighth grade. The fun begins at the Nachand Fieldhouse with a dance party! From there, we'll travel to Iceland Skating Rink and then to Puzzles Fundome where the kids will enjoy unlimited pizza and drinks! Then cap the night off at Hoosier Bowling Lanes. Transportation is provided.
Registration
K-12 Basketball
An excellent way to introduce your children to the great game of basketball. This league is for boys and girls that are enrolled in kindergarten through the 2nd grade. This is a non-competitive league which focuses on teaching the fundamentals of basketball. Volunteer coaches are always needed. League starts the first Saturday in November and registration will begin in October.

Jeff/GRC Baseball and Softball
The Jeff/GRC program is for boys and girls ages 5-16. Tee-Ball, softball, and baseball leagues are offered. Sign-ups are in late January-early February and the season begins in April. For additional information, visit the Jeff/GRC website at www.jeffgrc.org.
Southern Indiana Fall Baseball
This will be the 4th year that we’ve had numerous students from all over the area continue to play baseball during the fall season. In the past three seasons, as many as 20 different area schools have been represented by players in this league, which consists mostly of high school baseball players. All games are played at Shannon Memorial Park and the league will begin in late August or early September. For additional information, call the Parks Office at 285-6440.
Football
The Jeff ParksYouth Football League will begin in early September with registration and signups taking place in late June and early July. This league is for boys and girls that are enrolled in kindergarten through the 6th grade. Cheerleading is also offered as a part of this league for anyone enrolled in kindergarten through the 6th grade. Whether you want to buckle your chin strap and score a touchdown or cheer your heart out, this league strives to help everyone achieve their dreams. 3rd Annual All Sports Camp Date:
This camp includes instruction on the fundamentals and mechanics that are associated with numerous sports. Instructors for this camp include many coaches from Jeffersonville High School. This is an opportunity for many kids to learn something about a sport that they may have never participated in before.
July 25-29 Times:
9:00am-4:00pm each day M-R; Friday is from 9:00am-12:00pm

Prince/Princess Tea Party
Have fun with Fairy Tale magic as we decorate wands and crowns and have fun with princess crafts and games. We’ll also enjoy a tea party. Please come dressed in your best prince/ princess costume. Snacks will be provided. Minimum 10 participants.

Wacky Wednesdays
Children ages 7-11 are invited to the Fieldhouse to play games with the Parks Department Staff on Wednes- days from 3-5pm. The games are physical and will require children to run and jump. The program is free to Jeffersonville residents. There must be a minimum of 4 children to play. Children that cannot participate in a group without one on one assistance should come with an aide. Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tol- erated. Start date is Wed Feb. 8, 2012

Sticky Fingers
Get sticky making tasty treats! This cooking class for kids focuses on easy recipes and limit- ed use of the stove or oven, as well as the fun of making a healthy snack versus grabbing some- thing out of a package or vending machine!

Stitches Kids Sewing Club
Ages 6-11, Join the Jeff Parks Department for a fun afternoon of sewing! The club will meet monthly & make fun stuff with a needle, thread, fabric, yarn, glitter, beads & more!

Men’s Basketball
Adult men’s basketball leagues have been offered for nu- merous years during the winter and fall seasons. This year has been no exception! Our 2011 fall session will begin in September, while the 2012 winter session will begin in January. Each team is guaranteed 10 regular season games and a single elimination tournament follows the regular season.
Cost: $400 per team (registration taken on team basis).

Women’s Basketball
We’ve moved into our 3rd year of offering this competitive league for women in 2011 and we are excited to continue to build upon the posi- tive first two seasons that we had. Like the men’s league, the women’s league offers a fall session and a winter session. Each team is guaranteed 8 regular season games and a single elimination tournament follows the regular season.
When: 2011 fall session will begin in September, while the 2012 winter session will begin in January. Games are played on Wednesdays.

Cost: $325 per team (registration taken on team basis).
49 and over Men’s Basketball
Keep healthy and in shape! The 49 and over basketball league will begin in early November and registration will begin in October. Each team is guaranteed 12 regular season games and a single elimination tournament will follow the regular season.

60 and Over Men’s Basketball League
The senior men’s basketball league will begin in late Novem- ber and registration will begin in October. Individuals will be grouped together to form a 5 or 6 person team and each team will play 9 regular season games. A single elimination tourna- ment will follow the regular season. Participants must be at least 60 years of age during the 2011 calendar year to partici- pate in this league.

Softball
The Jeff Parks Department offers men’s, men’s senior, and co-ed leagues for those that are interested in playing recreational softball. All games are played at the historic Colston Park. Our summer league always begins the week after Derby Day and our fall league will start no more than a couple of weeks after the conclusion of the summer league. Volleyball
Monday night co-ed adult volleyball leagues are offered during the fall and winter seasons. The fall session will be- gin in September while the winter session begins in Janu- ary. Each team is guaranteed 10 regular season matches and a single elimination tournament follows the regular season. All participants must be at least 18 years of age and out of high school.

Latin inspired, easy to follow, calorie burning dance fitness party!TM Feel the music and let loose!

Belly Dancing

Run for Fun

Sunnyside Strollers Walking Group
This is a walking group for anyone! We will meet at the Visitor’s Center and walk for about 45 minutes at a “fitness pace” on various routes through Jeffersonville and Clarksville. Please wear athletic shoes, comfortable clothing, and bring water to drink.

10 in 10 couples
Participants are challenged to lose 10 pounds in 10 weeks! Participants will weigh in as couples & compete to lose the most combined percentage of weight loss in 10 weeks! Classes will include strength training, plyometrics, cardio, and stretching. All fitness levels welcome! Bring Water & yoga mat. Wear athletic cloths & shoes.
